About Us

In recognising that youth in (or from) care, whether foster care, a group home, or a shelter, face extra obstacles in becoming involved in science, the Fostering Science Mentorship Program was born out of a desire to support these students.  It is designed and run by a group of scientists who are passionate about science and youth, in partnership with the Federation of BC Youth in Care Networks and the Science Fair Foundation BC.

Our Goals

  • To increase participation of youth in or from care at science fairs
  • To work with youth in or from care to inspire an interest in science and engineering
  • To provide youth in or from care with the opportunity to develop positive relationships with science mentors in the community
  • To bring interactive, hands-on science/ engineering to youth in or from care
